Charlie Poole's classic, featuring the sophisticated vocal stylings of world-reknowned chanteuse Velma 'Mawd' Hawber of North Piscataway, NJ. Same instrumental track as the instrumental version mp3 of Milwaukee Blues also posted. 'Milwaukee Blues' is probably the most-beloved song on the planet, right up there with 'White Christmas', 'Blue Christmas', 'Baby Im-A Want Choo' and 'Theme From The Munsters.' Indeed, a recent poll of the combined readerships of Vogue, Wall Street Journal, People, Popular Mechanics, Cosmopolitan, Model Railroader and The Weekly World News named 'Milwaukee Blues' the 'Absolute All-Time Favorite Song Of This Or Any Other Universe, Except For Dickie Lee's Immortal 'Patches, Oh Patches Of Old Shantytown.' Gannet Records #12GJOT-AEAE9, recorded August 34, 1781. Original Retail Price: 3 cents--but in those days a Penny Was Still A Penny, darn it, and a body could still readily locate good hard cider for breakfast. .............FHO regular Mr. Glen Old Timer played his Peking Duck fiddle made outta Panda Tree wood and I plucked a Sears 'Sorta Good' paper-mache-rim banjo capoed at the 9th fret for good luck, you'll need it.

Balsa-top fiddle, tenor banjo and handclaps. I think I wrote this, tho it might be some old tune--morphed, warped, scavenged or jumbled-up without deliberate intent. The title was suggested by the rhythm & feel of the phrase which ends both the A and B parts.

A tune I often play, it's always floating around the noggin. But I don't know where it came from.

A tune in praise of law and order, unless the lyrics are sung and then it's an illegal melody. First heard this played by Hobo Pie. I asked did they write it and they said "No, we wuz framed--ya gotta believe us, Judge." Warning: Tho a swell number, do not play if gigging at Benevolent Order Of Patrolmen's party. Especially if ya got a vocalist.

Bill Huber fiddled. I played cross-tuned tenor banjo. John Gin played octave mandolin, subtle-like. Dunno where or how Bill learned this tune.

Two fiddles with guitar, banjo and bass right behind them. It's saturday morning, B&W tv set with foil wrapped around the rabbit-ear antenna. Farmer Brown is chasing or being chased by cartoon mice, as usual. Archie & Mehitabel gossip about their distant grand-kin, Pinky & The Brain. Some things never change, forever in re-runs.

Bill Huber was a fiddler from western New Jersey who passed at age 53 in 1999. Here's Bill playing 'Robert E. Lee.' I'm on mandolin. Bill remains high on my list of favorite musicians.

This tune 'just happened' after making some adjustments to the soundpost position on the trapezoidal fiddle and I was idly playing to check-out the tone. The tune sounded nice so I recorded it and then added a banjo part, using my homemade 12"-rim banjo. Is this a pre-existing tune? It KINDA sounds like one variant of ''Fiddler A Dram', but not exactly. So I called it 'A Tune.' (DUH) I'd appreciate anyone providing the actual title, if it's a pre-existing tune. If not, does a title for it suggest itself to any of you guys? No title for it has yet appeared in my noggin. Tho the fiddle probably wasn't pitched to standard A=440 pitch, it was played in GDGD tuning, so this tune could also be fingered as-is in AEAE.

Steve Weber, original Holy Modal Rounder, sings and plays guitar. I play electric guitar. The lyrics were written by Antonia Stampfel, set to music of 'Spanish Fandango.'
