(I invented the hank drum as an available alternative to the hang drum), musical saw
plus a ton of others -- proficiency level on these "others'"often not very good!
Favorite Bands/Musicians:
Don't much listen to recorded music -- would much rather hobnob with "real" folks,
even tho there aren't that many musicians up here in the northern Michigan "wilderness". Having said that, the fiddling of Brad Leftwich, Bruce Molsky, Rayna Gellert & young Tatiana Hargreaves & a number of others sure strikes my fancy! Not fond of most commercial music -- which tends to slick things up way too much.

For past 40 years or so have been building simple folk instruments. The past 20 years or thereabouts, I have maintained a webpage detailing the construction of most of these instruments. This webpage is at www.DennisHavlena.com Altho retired after 30 years with the Mackinac State Historic Parks, where I was their resident fiddler and bagpiper, I still work for the same outfit part-time in a similar capacity.
