The only other place I've heard this tune is from a recording by Lee Stoneking (Missouri) - Fred Stoneking's father.
The version you put up is almost exactly like his - and is very well played BTW.
Where did you learn your version?
And thank for posting it - do you play the "Rolling Stone Breakdown" a well?

I haven't heard Stoneking's version. I learned this from a home recording of Bob Holt that Jim Nelson gave to me. I don't know Rolling Stone Breakdown.

Well done. It reminds me of Tennessee Backwoods Stomp, played by Harvey Taylor, accompanied by Garry Harrison on guitar, recorded on 04/28/79, featured on the Dear Old Illinois CD 2 of 3, track 26. Thanks for the post.

I just listened to the Pappy Taylor tune. It is pretty much the same tune in my opinion. Thanks for pointing that out.I have Gary Harrison's book and CD's but I haven't listened to everything on them.

Excellent job Mickey. I thought I recognized the fine guitar playing of Mr. Nelson. We just played a dance in St. Louis this weekend. Me , Geoff Seitz on fiddles, Nelson on guitar and Dave Landreth on banjo. Kathy Anderson called. It was a good time.

Thanks Chirps. I always enjoy playing with Jim. Unfortunately, Randy's banjo playing is not very audible on this cut but he is a really fine Scruggs style player.
