I learned a lot about fiddling when I lived in Columbia, MO in the mid ྌ's. Taylor McBaine lived right down the street from me and we would play together often. He had such a powerful sound. Charlie Walden and John Stewart were very helpful and introduced me to the likes of Pete McMahan, Jimmy Gilmore, and Jake Hockemeyer. I used to play rhythm guitar for those guys whenever I could and went to many contests. I didn't start really fiddling until I moved away from Columbia and then it was out of necessity as none of the fiddlers around here played that style and I wanted to hear it. Irish music has also always been an interest and I was playing guitar with a band called the Dorians. When our fiddler moved away, I set about trying to learn Irish fiddling.
