I saw on Fiddlershangout that a fiddler's camp was being held May 2011 in Tennessee. After coercing my cousin Karin's mother-in-law, Anne Beals, to join me (it didn't take much), we excitedly waited for May to arrive. It was worth the wait - I had NO idea the talent Miss Megan Lynch would expose us to, including herself. Miss Megan is hugely talented, beautiful, funny as hell, and a pure delight to spend time with.
Unfortunately, camp has come and gone. I just got home from Fiddlestar Camp. Miss Megan seamlessly welcomed all 23 campers into her home and taught us better how to fiddle along with greats such as April Verch, Matthew Hartz and Eamon McLoughlin. She went out to bars with us (she only had one shot that I'm aware of).
Miss Megan also gave us a clogging lesson. Pam Tillis stopped by and started stomping with us. David Duffy, a friend of Eamon's, also stopped over to jam. David Thomas arrived late Sunday night and I sat on the porch with him and ate my breakfast while he practiced mandolin. How cool is that?
Yes, I'm gushing. I won't stop gushing for a long, long time. I already put down my deposit for next year's camp. THANKS MEGAN! Oh - the food Missy cooked was perfect, and Maria, Megan's mom, kept us all in line. Love them, each and every one.
