I live in Oklahoma City now. The Oklahoma State fiddlers meet once a month, on the first Saturday, at the Oklahoma Country-Western Museum & Hall of Fame building, 3925 SE 29th in Del City, OK. We start the meeting at 12:30 and end at 4:00 pm. We have a live stage band with plenty of talented musicians, for those folks that like to dance. We also have three (3) nice jam rooms for those who like to jam and learn. If you are a beginner, we have a place for you to join in the music and learn, If you are advanced, we welcome you to share your talents with those who come to learn. $3.00 donation at the door and if you can't afford that - we let you in anyway!
We will be going to Wagoner - at the Western Hills Lodge on August 20 - 21 - & 22 for the Annual meeting there. We also go to Elk City, Oklahoma, on the third weekend in April (Thursday thru Saturday). If you are a rythmn player, we sure do need you to attend these gatherings. Good fiddling is dependent upon good rythmn, so if you are one, please come, and if you know one, bring them too!

I love the fiddle. My dad and I played at fiddling contests in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma since 1975. I played guitar with Dad, then in 1975 I started learning the fiddle. I am still learning, although I am playing a lot better now. I finally got the Texas style bowing down after many long skull sessions with my fiddle music on my computer. I found the best way is to play along with the tune, then fiddle it to a good drum beat of the same tempo. This works with waltzes and breakdowns. I learned this from my Dad, who would spend day after day, just playing the fiddle to the tunes as they played on his record player.
