I started playing when I was six years old. My grandfather taught me the first chords and a couple of old country songs (think Jimmy Rodgers) on the guitar. I started playing Banjo when I was 18 just because I liked it. Around 21 I started playing professionally with my first band, Faded Blue. I bounced around some musically after that, just trying to perfect my skills. When I was in my thirties, I lucked out and got a backer to fund me for an album I cut of my own songs. It went nowhere, but the experience was great! Along the way of the past 10 years, I picked up the other instruments because of a suddenly discovered intense interest in Celtic music. Today, my family (daughter Sarah lead vocals and rithym guitar, son Joshua, banjo and bass, wife Lisa mandolin, me fiddle and guitar) are doing mostly bluegrass and gospel in our area. It's a dream come true- the two things in life I love most, my family and music, wound up together.
