A cheap second hand Chinese fiddle--bought for 30 pounds via my fiddle playing pal. I thought it was a pretty good bargain to start out with.

I am more of a mandolin player than a fiddler. I got my first and only fiddle in 1989. I taught myself the basics with a little help from my friends. But I haven't played the fiddle for years--it's gathering dust in its case in our junk room. That's why I am here looking for inspiration. I can tune it and read music. The left hand technique is more developed than the right. It is the bowing technique that is the problem. I reached a learning plateau and got stuck.
