Swing Manouche - Svend Asmussen

From mandojim48 on 3/9/2013 11:28:35 AM

Hello all ,

I found a wonderful transcription of Swing Manouche by Svend Asmussen in the Spring 2005 issue of Fiddler Magazine contributed by Paul Anastasio. I've found only the shortest snippet of the tune when I searched the web, not enough for me to understand Svends' nuances and style . The mp3 track is not available for purchase in the US. Would anyone have played this tune and have recorded their interpretation ?

Thanks for any help

The transcribed solo by Svend Asmussen is for "Swing Mineur"( ie. "Minor Swing") written by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli.
Svend plays this solo on an out of print recording with David Grisman called "Svingin' With Svend". I'm friends with Svend, and heard him play this album cut in a New York club. Send me a private message. It may be a while before I answer--but I will answer.

I was mistaken. The recording "Swing Manouche" is from Svend's "Fiddling Around" CD. It is posted on Youtube by the record company:

The transcription is at the end of this PDF:
