What are the "need to know" tunes to play at a Cajun jam?

	tcadien says: 3/30/2015 1:47:15 AM Depends on which jam you're going to. They all have regulars who will play their favorite or best performed songs which creates a kind of repetoire for that jam. If I had to blanket choose a selection of songs I would suggest some artists' songs to become familiar with, which basically consists of well known or exceptional recorded accordion players. E.g. Iry LeJeune, Lawrence Walker, Aldus Roger, Austin Pitre, Nathan Abshire, etc. I only suggest this because most jams are led by accordion players. Getting familiar with these artists' songs will not only help you get along in the jams, but will also improve your ear training and getting you prepared to tackle any song thrown at you, which is always the case if you're a fiddler ;). Hope this helps!
	tcadien says: 3/30/2015 1:52:15 AM I would also suggest carrying a pen/pencil and small note pad in your fiddle case for writing down songs you don't know, so you can visit them later at home to familiarize yourself with it or learn it. You could also note any songs played regularly at your respective frequented jams.
