The jam desperately needs a bass. I've been invited and encouraged. I really don't have anything more to prove on a fiddle.
Played bass for the whole session yesterday. I guess I'd rather be useful and yet always learning. Learning stuff one doesn't learn in any other situation. You have to be "in it." There's a lot of responsibility in that one(1) note.

Nope. There's no Bass Hangout

BASS is the BEST! Glue to the mix. Backbone to the system. Heartbeat of the Jam! No bass? No groove...that last one is not true but good on you for carrying the big torch! I learn so much while playing bass. If you're able to play and not pay attention to yourself, it really helps to watch others in action. I learned to play bass by keeping beats simple and watching the bass player.

I’m not a bass player either but when I bring it into a session it definitely gives it a lift. Just another discipline to focus on, particularly the timing aspect.

Good bass players are a TREASURE!! I told my oldest (bassist for The Brigands) when he started at 9, a good bass player will work as much as he wants to. Still true today.

Bass looks so fun, and I agree…so necessary to have it!
Not many people will switch instruments to give what the jam needs, so kudos to you!

If there was here's what I would post for you:

Here's how to skip 40 years of trying to figure out how to walk between chords.
