True, but they're still patterns so you can look down and see the basic finger relationships. It's just the fine tuning that needs to be done by you.
you'd be better off looking at the sounding point of the bow, than trying to imagine where your first finger was when you had your pinky or 2nd or 3rd finger down, you cant see them. Imo no point trying to look at my left hand fingers, just got to try to visualize them in my head and listen.
