Adult choir, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Texana (now part of Murphy) NC. Roscoe Hall, director and keyboard (with bass and drum machine). The lead singer is his mother.
Texana has an interesting history. Founded in 1850 by African Americans, led by Texas (nicknamed "Texana" by her father) McClelland. The first structure was a church, built with logs hewn by the women of the congregation. A new church was built in the 1890's on the same site, and the current church in, I think, the 1940's, so this has been a sanctified site for a long time.
Recorded in the church with the Sony 501 digital recorder during a very enjoyable evening. Choir - KM84 (pair), Soloist - Sennheiser MD421, keyboard - direct to console.

Since a few people have listened, I thought I'd add another song. One of the neat things about the Sony digital system was I could record 2 hours of CD quality audio on a TDK videocassette that was 3 or 4 dollars at Walmart. So I left the tape rolling at the end of this evening, and the group spontaneously started this as a parting song.
