Jerry Douglas and many others play them. He's an incredible luthier but also a great human. Check out his site:

Now I'm watching a video on the difference between lap steel guitar and dobro :-DA dobro is the coolest looking guitar I have seen!!

It is indeed! Playing it is a bit like banjo and fiddle at the same time.
Right hand is similar -yet different- to banjo and the left hand requires constant hearing the intonation as there are no frets, so similar -yet different- from fiddle.
When I just started -turn of the century-:

It's just there to point out that I am a vegetarian.... ![]()
Curiously, I play Cherokee Shuffle on banjo, mandolin or fiddle, but never attempted it on Dobro.
Maybe I should, or no... it's good as it is now. ![]()
By the way, I like the version in the above video very much!

I was also from my 14th till my 31st year in this life, then I met this crazy ex punk 40 year old father of two beautiful young daughters, who pointed out to me I was going out in Anvers with the mayor of the city as he called himself . He was the coolest Anvers inhabitant I ever met. But could not step into his life for reasons I choose not to explain but yes it was dog-related. He seduced me into starting meat again, he was such a good cook and it started with come on won't you taste the inside of this soup bone that is strictly spoken no meat he said lol and a little later I bought him some chicken to prepare and then all hell broke loose regarding me and my veggie principles .

Wow, ya'll. I have some catching up to do! lol
First I appreciate ya'll taking a listen. Yes, we miss having a fiddler every time we play...if one ever comes along, it'll be even more impossible to get some shows booked...lol. As for Dobro and Paul Beard, yes, he's one of my favorite people I've ever met in the bluegrass world. He and Billy Strings.
Speaking of Billy. He's sat in with us before a few times. I have lots of audio but this is one of the only videos I've ever been able to track down. I figured I'd hijack this thread and share that video. Includes fiddle/violin too. Not sure if I shared this on here before. If so, I'm sorry. But, it is Friday! Cheers
