What on earth is your source? Presumably some English Country Dance collection, but I can't find a reference to it in a modern collection.

Do you know that one? Has some bird calls in there a little bit too. Anyway...thanks for sharing. Thanks Ernie, Anja, and Peggy. "Maggoty Johnson" seems to be a very interesting character. I did a bit of research on him after "Scotty road" initial post. And came up with this interpretation of his tune.
Hurlothrumbo was originally a satirical play written by a 17th century dancing master (Samuel Johnson). The term found its way into common vernacular and later came to mean an assortment of odds and ends.
