Hi y'all I recently got the new edition of the Milliner-Koken collection. Wow, very expansive collection of transcriptions of American fiddle tunes. As I've been going through checking out the tunes I've been making videos, partly for myself for reference, or for folks looking to hear some of the melodies. I'm not sure how far I'll get. It's 700 pages of tunes, and I'm in the Bs...
It's on YouTube here.
That book is so long I wouldn't think about going through it alphabetically! But it's a great resource. My understanding is that the second edition is pretty similar to the first but with improved indices. So I'll stick with my first edition.
Maybe someday they'll add measure markings! It's no problem without them, but I've never understood the reason to omit them.
Megan, I broke down and bought the collection. I must say I am having trouble reading the notation and getting the timing correct. When they use a lot of 32nd notes and no bar lines it messes me up. But, you have come to the rescue publishing your shorts. Following you and the score I am figuring out how to read the score more accurately on my own and learning new tunes at the same time...
Thanks!!
Bob
