Carl, the memory of my Windows device is almost completely full and in October my Windows support will expire so I will switch to Linux pretty soon. But reading this message I have a maybe important addition to the mail I sent you in which I asked permission to use your file on a usb stick for my car.
While I put the file on the first usb stick I tried, it did not work for my car as I explained, but on my laptop I could see when I had a look at the file properties (under the tab general) 'file controlled by another computer'. Since I am no computer expert , I then put the file on another USB stick (as I told you) making sure first I would put it on 'read only'.
That did the trick. Your file is now (I suppose) safely travelling with me on the other usb stick for my car. That's the only place now where I have this file, I deleted all music from my laptop since my regular car usb stick contains all the good OT music I collected.
I am sincerely concerned, this is why I publicly write this. I hope the problems get solved very quickly.
No weird stuff is happening in my car (for what it matters) nor on my laptop, I drive basic with just a basic car radio with luckily still a USB port on it. It goes like this : car radio on, usb stick in ... and there is all the good music I like to listen to while driving.
Please take good care and hopefully you will get the support you need.
To be 100% safe I reset my Windows version back to factory settings right after I wrote my last post. I lost the illustrated course book for kids that I once wrote ( on the basics of ham radio amateurism), forgot I had put it on my Windows desktop to empty one specific usb stick. I still got the main part in printed form, the next thing was about different types of modulation. Not sure what to do with the car USB stick, I do not dare to plug it into my laptop's port as long as I have Windows on it but maybe I'm just being too paranoid on this kind of stuff?
