I'd be really nice if I had a stand that holds a fiddle/bow and my square-neck resonator (dobro). The dobro fits in a standard guitar stand rest on the base in a stand with or without a neck holder. I think I'd prefer a fiddle stand that holds the fiddler higher by the headstock instead of on the base as then it's almost on the ground.
Any recommendations?

I'm wondering if adding a mic stand fiddle hanger to my guitar stand would work. Something like -- amazon.com/String-Swing-Violin...hdGY&th=1
I've had too many close calls in my circle...2 Les Paul's (Not mine) fell and head stock snapped and then watched a buddy have a Taylor smack a brick floor and it popped a seam. The safest place I put my instrument, even if multiple instruments is the case. But that link you posted looks like it work.
My icon is my fiddle bucket. The lining is a stolen motel towel. (A must)
Today I put two fiddles in it. (Standard tuned and Cajun tuned) Plenty of room for bows. I had a wholesale bulk pickle bucket, but it walked away. Home depot buckets are orange. Currently, mine is a local farm supply company bucket.

When it's sitting on the ground, it can fall no further.

I was hoping you would show up on this topic.
OP: String swing is good in the practice room. But when I used it on a stage and looked at my $$$violin$$$ hanging there on the mike stand I got the heebeejeebees.
I switch between fiddle and mando and I use farmerjones' bucket during a show. (Sorry, Steve, I rarely get paid, so can't send royalties) Thankfully, an F-style mando fits in the bucket just as well as a fiddle and bow. Furthermore, carrying a 5-gal bucket full of gear up onto the stage bestows enormous amounts of redneck/hick cred.
Sorry, but I can't suggest how to accommodate a guitar as well.

I've often wondered how used instruments, no matter what age, receives all the nicks and dings, scrapes and cracks...etc. I wished I could trust a stand. My daughters got me this stand for Christmas. Hercules Stands. It's def the best on the market IMO. I only use it by my recording desk. They make a violin version too. I considered at one time. Cool topic.
For everything else, but piano, I use Cooper folding instrument stands. They're not cheap. I have 5 or 6 other stands, but I've settled on Cooperstands. For multiple instruments they can each get pretty close.
Yep, I've seen grandpa's (not my gp) old fiddle fall from a hanger, to hit the concrete from 2 or 3 feet, landing on the tailpeg. It pretty much exploded. Sure, you can put it back together, but it's best if you don't have to. I keep all my stuff out and ready to play, at home. I know this is a matter of contention. But I use the same stands & bucket on stage or at a jam or at home.

learn2turn - I think I'd recommend separate stands as safer and more flexible in placement options. You could put one on either side of your chair, for example. And I'd worry about the little fiddle being too close to a big guitar, especially a clunky, heavy dobro.
Here are some photos of my spot on the bandstand in a theater production. It was very crowded, but there weren't any people lurching around either. Still I worried that the cord for the bass would get tangled and knock something over, so I had to be careful.
I am in the market for a small table for my violin and bow. I switch back and forth between guitar and violin and don't trust my clumsy self with one of those made for fiddle stands. Must be foldable however. I guess I could go to Wal mart and get one of those plastic ones but was wondering if there something nicer that people are using. And needs to be sturdy.
Thanks

Camp tables fold up nice and small
As someone who mainly plays guitar but often shares rehearsal space with fiddlers and dobro players, I’ve run into this same issue. The most reliable setup I’ve seen is a multi-instrument stand with a higher neck cradle, which keeps the fiddle elevated while still giving the dobro enough base support. It’s simple, stable, and prevents both instruments from ending up on the floor.
