More About Me
Hi there,
My name is Matt, I have been playing violin for 22 years, and I have been giving instruction for the last 17 years. I have been playing as a professional freelance fiddle player for many bands in the Saint John area, and greater Moncton area for some time. I am well knowledged in technique having a strong classical background, and also skilled in improvisation. I had attended many workshops and fiddle camps in the past both as a student and a teacher. One to note would be the Mark O'Connor Fiddle Camp held in Johnson City Tennessee several years ago. There, I was studying more technique, as well as training in Jazz, Bluegrass, and Classical, taught by some of the greatest players in North America. In 2010 I was hired to showcase with a band at the International Bluegrass Music Awards and Conference (IBMA) in Nashville Tennessee. I have gone on to win the Fiddle Player of the Year Award from the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Association, and I have since been performing as a freelance artist, and a fiddle player for the Acadien group “Reveil”. Music has brought me many places in Canada, Europe, and the States. Over the years I have met so many people through music, and it is a real joy to bring music to others who are excited to learn, and want to do the same.
