Here's something different! New Market is a fiddle tune with a mix of old-time and contemporary styles. This tune represents a vision that I've had since the early 1990's of old-time fiddle music being an early branch of the jazz family tree. In this vision I see jazz players going back to these roots and playing the music in contemporary ways. It's my hope that the tunes that I've written in various fiddle styles will also be discovered. I specifically had jazz players in mind when I wrote New Market; however, if it catches on with traditional fiddle players it's perfectly fine with me. :)) Demo recorded by Amy Leonard, violin; E. Shawn Qaissaunee, guitar; Peter McCarthy, bass.
