Blues For Lester is not a conventional blues. Rather, it is an exceptionally quirky blending of jazz, blues, funk, and a touch of contemporary classical. The piece is an expression of my admiration for Lester Young, the great jazz tenor saxophonist, who had many quirky qualities in his music. The piece was originally conceived as a feature for violin and jazz rhythm section. However, any instruments are welcome to have a go at it. Demo recorded by Amy Leonard, violin; Jason Shapiro, tenor saxophone; E. Shawn Qaissaunee, guitar; Peter McCarthy, bass; Skip Rohrich, drums.
