Played by Kenny Jackson. Learned this during a visit with Birch Monroe in 1981. He played the tune on an old Hopf fiddle that had belonged to his uncle Pendleton Vandiver (the same Uncle Pen of Bill Monroe's famous song). As an added treat, I got to play on Uncle Pen's fiddle - an experience I'll always cherish.

Thanks for uploading this one.

Monroe's fiddlers always broke into it at the end of "Uncle Pen" but most people don't realize it's a great fiddle tune in it's own right....

Very nice. Love that old tune. Always wanted to learn it and now I've got a good model to go by. Thanks for sharing it. I'm curious - sounds a little like you might be tuned in an open G tuning?

Thanks Jeff. You're right - it's in cross G tuning (GDGD)

I'm a bit late in getting to it, but thanks to everyone for your comments - so glad you like the tune and my playing of it. It's one that deserves to be played more.
