This tune was played by Ward Jarvis and Dana Loomis on one of the Ray Alden albums (perhaps Visits?). I'm multitracking here: fiddle, banjo uke, and guitar. It's one of those happy tunes that helps relieve the stress of whatever's ailing you!

Actually, Ward Jarvis rather than Wade Ward. It is on the Visits LP and on the Brose recordings, too. Which Ward aside, nice job.

Thanks! Yup, I knew I was gonna get it wrong, but the album is still packed away in a box after my recent move, so I didn't get a chance to check. Good that people keep me honest. What are the Brose recordings? That's a new one on me.

David Brose made some wonderful home recordings of Ward that feature, in addition to his wonderful fiddling, an equal amount of his incredible banjo playing. Ward played banjo for Ed Haley in his younger years, prior to taking up the fiddle. His banjo playing was very influential to a lot of younger Ohio players, Jeff and Wally Goehring among them. The Brose recordings were made at Ward's home in Athens County, OH between 1978-1980.

I'm wondering if the Brose recordings are available? I thought maybe he was the contributor to the Field Recorders Collective CD, b ut it appears that the FRC CD was from the collection of Jeff Goehring.
