Another Internet collaboration with Jeff Long of Fiddle Hangout and Jackson, TN. This time I added my banjo to his fiddle/guitar track. It just so happens that I have an old Yellow Dog -- sometimes referred to as a Carolina Dog. She's 13-years-old, blind, deaf and diabetic, but still hanging in there. Update: Sadly, my old yellow dog has died. She put up a good fight, but the fight just got to be too much for her. It's in the key of D, banjo is tuned gCGCD, capoed at second fret.

Great pickin' Dan. Thanks. Really liked the banjo in there. Nothin' like the sound of a fiddle & banjo together. You probably don't know this, but I use to play with Curtis McPeake after he retired from Danny Davis & The Nashville Brass. He's from my hometown and gathered up a few locals to join him on the road. I played a couple of years with him before I finally figured out their was no money to be made in bluegrass. Curtis was a fine gentleman though and we still keep in touch. He's gettin' on up there in years. Curtis was the banjo picker that filled in for Earl Scruggs with the Foggy Mtn. Boys back when Earl had his bad car wreck. He went on to play with Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper, and later Danny Davis & The Nashville Brass. Anyway he always use to tell me that was the original band - the banjo & fiddle and I never could figure out how that could be until I started listening to the clawhammer banjo. Lots of rythum there. Does give a full band sound when you put the two together. Again, great job Dan. Do some more. Enjoyed hearing that.
