Here's a clip of my band Whistling Rufus playing a song we call "Muskrat." The melody is sort of from an old tune called Boatman and the lyrics come from a kitchen recording of Red Allen and Frank Wakefield.

I really like your style. Love the oldtime sound. Trying to get my group to convert to that sound. So many good oldtime tunes out there. I've taken up with the fiddle lately too, and I love those old tunes. I played bluegrass for many years and it's hard to break the habit, but I really enjoy the sound of the oldtime music much better. If only I could convert the rest. The oldtime music is just so much better to jam to, and so much more fun and loose. You do a great job with it. Keep posting. We do this tune too, except we call it The Old Rooster. If you're ever down around Jackson, Tn. look us up. We have a weekly jam at The Old Country Store right off I-40.
