Thanks for the stars Ozarkian D.L. I made this one up. My grandmother was the well digger's daughter. Her father was overcome by gas while digging a well. Her mother went down the shaft to rescue him and was also overcome by gas. They both died leaving eight children to be spread out and cared for by friends and family. My grandmother and her siblings remained close all their lives, though.
