Thanks, Lonesome Fiddler. I learned it (as a sung-song) from a Patrick Sky recording way back in the 1960's. It's a sea shanty. Last year I was suprised to see Baby Gramps perform the song on the Dave Letterman show. Tony Garnier, Bob Dylan's longtime rock-solid bassman was in Baby Gramps' combo on bowed upright bass! The lyrics are wonderful (also the kinda song it's fun & easy to invent new lyrics for.)
'Cape cod girls don't use no combs, they comb their hair with codfish bones and it's bound away for australia/cape cod kids don't use no sleds, they slide down hills on codfish heads/cape cod cats they got no tails, they lost 'em all in southeast gales'. Etc.
