Two Civil War era tunes that work well together. Both are known by other names Kelton's Reel aka Stoney Point, Wild Horses, Waiting for the Federals aka Seneca Square Dance.

Very nice, Tim. Those two tunes really do work nicely together. I have Kelton's Reel on a CD by Alan Jabbour as Stoney Point, and I'm pretty sure that I have it on another CD under yet a different name.
I thought that Waiting for the Federals was just another name for Oklahoma Rooster, so I will have to roll up my sleeves and research this more. I've been polishing a (non-barn dance band) version of Oklahoma Rooster, so I had better find out before I record and post it. I'll keep you posted ;D

Thanks Michael,
I got these tunes from a CD by the 2nd South Carolina String Band, Dulcem Melodys. There is a comprehensive research of them in the album liner notes.

Sounds great! And thank you for solving a mystery.
The second tune is one that's played by the local jam circle and I never did catch the name, and have way too many hours of jam tapes to go through to find this one song. And your version of it is spot on to the one they've been playing. NOW I can polish it up before the next jam, and maybe have a hope of keeping up with them! Yay!

Thanks bj, glad to be of help. I think most folks know it as Seneca Sqaure Dance. It is a fairly easy tune but a realy cool one! You should be able to pick it up without too much trouble. Good Luck!

W.F.T.F. aka Senecca Square Dance aka Shoot That Turkey Buzzard (according to Bob Holt), and there may be more names for that tune yet....
Nice arrangement. Imaginative! Because you're almost treating the second tune as a 3rd & 4th part of the first tune.

bsed, thanks for your comments.
I can't take credit for the cool arrangement, it is from the 2nd South Carolina String Band.

I have listened to it many times and every time there is a different interpretation for it. See essayhave review so that you can understand how they achieved all of this.
