I've set a few using this method. Double-knoted
toward top of post & pulled into position ( set just to the right of center & 1/2 the post diameter behind bridge foot on treble side with post grain running across fiddle ). This is very hard to do.
Each end of string runs thru F holes. After satisifed with placement, you can carefully loosen double string knot with a long bladed knife & remove string. I've seen em cut off & left in fiddle too. ( Sharp end & sizzors type setting tools recommended ).
