shows interesting markings in the varnish. not sure what caused it, bad refinishing?

These fiddles had a color put in the varnish that would sometimes wear off or oxidate over time. It's a mark of its character and age. When I was at the Lake Genero fiddle campout on Labor Day Weekend, I saw a lot of fiddles that looked similar. Didn't at all hurt the way they sounded! That's some fine looking wood on that box. I betcha it's going to sound great.

I don't think its been refinished, but it looks like it was somewhat "antiqued" to begin with - those are the lighter spots in the middle, upper bouts, and bottom. Get the soundpost reset, or a new one made, try the bridge and some strings, and see what happens! Looks good.
