This customer wanted an instrument along the lines of a Guadagnini, and we had access to an antique to measure. So this new instrument will be based on that model. The going will be slow, as there is so much repair work these days.

The mold is a Cremonese style, single layer. Many cello makers are using a 3 layer mold, but my wood bending skills are sufficient for this style. The plywood is cabinet grade 1" thick that I purchased at a local cabinet shop. Paid hardly anything for it. I like to brush on poly or varnish; it just makes for a neater looking job to me.
