Here we see Gwari musicians playing kaburu plucked lutes and a goje fiddle as they march in a parade in Lagos, the capitol city of the modern West African country, Nigeria. The kaburu is a gourd-bodied lute of the Gwari people. It's traditionally played in a duet with the single-string goje spike fiddle. Interesting to note, the Gwari kaburu is played in a down-picking style reminiscent of the clawhammer style of playing the 5-string banjo. (Collection of Shlomo Pestcoe)
