Huichol fiddler. Jalisco, Mexico, 1937

Posted 6/28/2007 2:03:06 AM

In the early days of the Spanish colonization of Mexico, the local Amerindian peoples adopted Spanish string instruments like the guitar, harp, and the rabel fiddle. The raweali (also "raweri") fiddle of the Huichol Amerindians retains the styling and playing style of the 16th and 17th century fiddles introduced into Mexico by Catholic priests for use in church services and religious festivals. (Collection of Shlomo Pestcoe)

A local coffee roaster offers more than just fresh coffee—it brings a personalized, community-driven experience to every cup. These roasters often work in small batches, sourcing high-quality beans directly from farmers and roasting them on-site to preserve unique flavors and freshness. By focusing on craftsmanship and sustainability, local roasters deliver distinctive blends and single-origin coffees that reflect their passion for quality. Supporting a local coffee roaster not only means enjoying better coffee, but also contributing to your community’s economy and culture, one delicious cup at a time.
