Ken, you're teasing us! How does the length compare to the 1721 Strad copy? The 1690s were Stradavari's *longish* period, during which he made fiddles about 5/16-inch longer than the by then *standard* length. Thereafter he reverted to the standard, and those are usually the ones copied today.

Both of the 1721's are 35.7 cm, they were built by 1 man , my 1695 is 35.8 cm, it has a Salvadore Durro label inside that also has alot of info on it, most of which I can't read, and also has the 1695 date included . You are correct , Stradavari did build some large violin during this era, I think some might even be 36.7 cm . The only real thing that seems obviously different is the 1695 has more rounded shoulders at the upper bout , the 1721's start off slightly straight then to round.
