This Violin was in my Grandpa's attic for YEARS. I discovered it when I was about 6 or 7 years old, (1942 or so). It then became lost until about 2005 and my cousin turned it over to me. It was in terrible condition, dusty, dirty and only a few strings left and no bridge, no fine tuner, no tail piece, no chin rest. The coffin case was in narrow strips and all unglued and felt liner in shreds. I first rebuilt the coffin case and relined it and put on 10 coats of hand rubbed black lacquer. It came out very well.
I took it to a Fiddle player in Arizona in about 2007-8 and he offered to repair as best he could. He was the Arizona State Champion Fiddle player a few years earlier. When I got it back, it looked wonderful. He played for us at a special jam session of Country and Bluegrass music. He said the tone was great and all his other fiddle players gave a try and they too were astounded at the quality of the tone . This was kind of a surprise to all of them after laying around in the attic for years and stored who knows where.
I would like to know if it could be identified as to origin. The Scroll has imprints, Conservatory Violin, Germany, and a ID of initials.
