Some French fiddle from the late 1800s.
Favorite Bands/Musicians:
Old Time Fiddlers who don't play too fast and are not bossy. I also appreciate fiddlers who cross tune because they are more tolerant of the tuning rituals of Old Time banjo players.

I've been an old time banjo player for decades. I play fingerstyle as well as a hybrid frailing style. The first real traditional fiddler heard was Franklin George of WV who's still a favorite. I always longed to try my hand at the fiddle, but was too intimidated by the instrument. Finally, as I approaced 50 years of age, I decided it was now or never. Not only is it such a thrill to finally be scratching out a few tunes, but I've noticed that my banjo playing has become sharper and more expressive since taking up the fiddle.
