I'm a late-bloomer! Just got a mandolin for my 42nd birthday (Jan.) and doing OK on it. Once I realized that the fingering on a violin is the same, I just had to buy one. Got an old violin on e-bay. Need a new bow though. I have only just started practicing my bowing on open strings the last couple of days (308). Doesn't sound too great...but hoping I will improve.
