The wonderful studio where I take lessons, String Studio of Monmouth County, is going to have a chin rest specialist come in to do individual consultations this weekend.
I am very excited about this - along with all my other violin struggles, I've never felt like I have an understanding of what a comfortable/correct holding position feels like. I use a shoulder rest and have a chin rest that makes me feel like I'm hanging my jawbone over a fence. So, I don't expect a custom fit to solve all my problems, but if I can get a good, "proper" foundation, that'll be one less source of frustration!
Anyone experience a difference in comfort from changing chin rests/shoulder rests?
