I built 2 violins and one of them has a problem that I need some kind of solution for. When I play the C note on the A string (or that same note on any string) I get the C plus a C one octave higher. If I stay away from the bridge with the bow (closer to the fingerboard) I don't have the issue.
What is that and what are some things I can do to correct it? I already moved the sound post a little which did help and I changed the type of string which did help. What else can I do? I made my bridge on the thinner side, should I make one that is on the thicker side instead? Will a change in the tailpiece or distance of it help?
Any suggestion that is known to help would be appreciated.
