My Instruments:
Harwood. That isn't the maker's name, which is unknown. I don't know when it was built either, but it was made for a retailer which closed in the 1870s so it was made no later than that. One of the best sounding instruments I've ever played.

I also owned a 5-string fiddle, sold it, and now regret it and want another.

Other instruments: I play an F5 varnished mandolin custom built for me by Sim Daley, specially voiced for lightgauge strings. I also have a cheap Morgan Monroe F5 bouzouki, an even cheaper ukulele, my dad's old 5-string banjo, a balalaika, and a 5'7" grand piano.

Currently a student/part time musician at East Tennessee State University, the only university with a four-year bluegrass music program, majoring in philosophy and minoring in history and bluegrass/old time music. I am primarily a mandolinist, but also play fiddle, bouzouki, and, to a lesser degree, several other instruments. I'm torn between music and academics as career choices.
