I will be teaching a fiddle workshop on Saturday afternoon on 11/10 in Branford Ct:
David Kiphuth will be teaching intermediate Banjo from 12-2pm.
Intermediate Fiddle workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Baymont Inn Hotel, 3 Business Park Drive, Branford, CT 06405.
Cost $25
Jane will be teaching one to two tunes from the Old Time Repertoire, with an emphasis on learning by ear, improving tone and rhythm, bowing and exploring how to add musicality and expression to traditional tunes. All tunes will be taught without music so a recording device is highly recommended.
Jane is an award-winning fiddler and tune composer currently based in the Philadelphia area. She has been performing, recording and teaching for 30-plus years to students of all levels and all ages. Jane has taught fiddle at Old Songs Strings Summer Camp, Banjo Camp North, Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, Philadelphia Folk Festival and Folk College. In addition to the Red Hen String Band, she plays with Jane’s Gang, Great Big Taters and Corachree. She has numerous recordings to her credit and is now working on a new recording and book featuring her original tunes. Her tunes “Too Late for the Bacon” and “Red Hen” won the Best Original Tune at Clifftop in 2006 and 2010.
