Just wanted to post the tentative dates for this years PA Old Time Fiddlers State Competition for 2012. The location will be in Clarion again (home of Clarion University), which is located right on Interstate 80 in the northwestern part of the state.

The competition will once again be part of the Clarion Autumn Leaf Festival, and the date is September 29th, a Saturday.

As soon as I have more details I will post them. The primary sponsor will be State Farm Insurance, who has upped their cash donation to create larger winners' purses.

I'm getting married near there in October, and I'm looking to hire a fiddler to play some traditional tunes at my wedding. Please let me know if you're interested. And also (since I see you're always looking for luthiers) Joe Knight in Clarion is THE BEST. He's built many amazing violins and always took great care of my family's instruments (I come from the very musical Dodson family in the Cook Forest region). So at any rate, if this comment is not welcome feel free to delete it, but it was worth a shot.
