2012 GA String Band Festival

The 2012 Georgia String Band Festival will be held May 12th, in Calhoun at the NW Georgia Fairgrounds (same place as 2011 for those of you who attended.)  More information is on the Harris Arts Center (Calhoun, GA) website:

The day wil be mostly filled with competition: gates open at noon, and the contests start at 12:30p with Buck Dancing.  As of right now, the fiddle contest will be last in the day, starting around 5:00 pm

The day ends with a Square Dance starting around 7pm.  The event is in a covered arena area, and will happen rain or shine.

Rules are:
Singing - Old Time Style only, one song for preliminary and for finals, if necessary

Dancing - Old Time Style dance only. Dancers who wear metal on their soles must have and use their own board

Banjo - Old Time Styles and tunes only. May play solo or with a maximum of one (1) accompanist. Preliminary round - Two tunes of choice. 
Final round - one tune of choice

String Band - Old Time Styles and tunes only. Band must consist of at least two stringed instruments. Preliminary round - Two tunes of choice, one required to have vocals.
Final round - one tune/song of choice

Fiddle - Old Time Fiddling and Tunes only. May play solo or with maximum of one accompanist. 
Preliminary round - Two Tunes of choice
Final Round (if designated) - Two Tunes of choice
