Change of plans

From cmoore on 4/15/2012 7:31:04 PM

The fiddle camp I thought I couldn't go to became the fiddle camp I went to.  A change in plans allowed me to attend Fiddle Camp North in Charlton.  This was my first time attending fiddle camp and it was lots of fun!  I met lots of mando players and really friendly fiddlers.  I went by myself, but always found someone to talk to and have meals with.  When I had a rough time in my first evening jam, my fiddle friends were there to cheer me up.  This camp was a combination camp with mando's and I wasn't sure how the ratio would work, but it was great.  The fiddle workshops were at a different end of the campus and there were jams for both instruments and combo jams for everyone.  The fiddle instruction was excellent and the mando faculty were top notch.  I learned that the mandolin has the same strings and note structure as a fiddle!  A fiddle player could add the mandolin to their instrument collection and comfortably play beginner tunes.  Overall, Fiddle Camp North was fun, the food was good, the company was refreshing.  If you go, bring a flashlight, and cash for raffles and vendor tables.
