Fiddlers are everywhere

From cmoore on 11/29/2011 3:44:14 AM

After going to Fiddle Hell this year, I discovered that there's a fiddle community out there that is active and vibrant.  My fiddle teacher told me about an Irish session that meets at the Greenbriar Pub in Brighton every Monday night.  The slow session is 7-9 and fast session is 9-whenever they're done.  It's the oldest one in the city.  I visited just to see what happens at an Irish session and was greeted several times by friendly musicians who came to play and others who came to enjoy the music, food and spirits.  If you can find your way to Brighton, you need to stop by the Greenbriar Pub and experience the oldest Irish session in Boston. Maybe I'll see you there.

Has anyone heard of Julie Metcalf? She's a great local fiddle player. She has a CD called Flowers In The Forest. It's really good!

Hi Colleen. I know this post is a couple of years old now, but I was poking around on the site and this topic caught my eye. I would love to find a jam near me to listen in on or some other fiddlers/musiciansto play with occasionally. I've only been playing a year and a half, however, so I'm not looking for anything too advanced. Have you heard of any jams, groups or people in the Metrowest or Blackstone Valley areas?
