I have been playing the fiddle for quite awhile but recently have begun taking cello lessons. I am enjoying the cello very much, though sometimes feel quilty leaving the fiddle alone. I try to practice cello in the morning and fiddle at night. Still consider the violin my primary instrument, but the cello is so much fun. I would probably spend even more time on the cello if it were not for all the wonderful tunes I play on fiddle only. So, I am trying to learn fiddle tunes on the beast. To make things even more difficult, I am trying to learn them in the same keys fiddlers play them in. That means going up the neck into fifth position, and higher sometimes. I am signed up to take a cello/fiddle workshop this april and have already received the music for it. Both fiddle and cello parts. And this August I will be attending Maine Fiddle Camp again, except this time I will be studying the cello.
Some of my influences are Natalie Haas, Inbal Segev, and Yo Yo Ma.
