Paint brush or bow I don't know?

From fiddlerd on 6/10/2012 9:25:13 AM

I have taken lessons and a workshop and they said move your wrist like your painting with a brush. On Saturday I was painting and started thinking about what they told me. I visualized I had my bow in hand and was playing a song....That made the job fun....and it went by fast.

Since I've had more experience painting than bowing, I'll remember this. Have to admit, playing my fiddle is a LOT more fun than painting!

I know that it is important to keep your wrist flexible as you play. One of my students found it helpful to think of her right wrist as a jellyfish. I had never heard of the paint brush analogy, but I'm glad it worked for you.
