Two weeks ago I went to my first jam on my own. It was an old time jam and I was pretty nervous. One thing that helped me that night was sitting across from another fiddle player. I could see finger position and bowing so when I couldn't figure out what to play I could at least watch. I also brought my recorder so I could listen to the tunes again and maybe try them when I got home.
