Thank you for listening.
The origin of the violin I cannot tell. It has a JTL label inside, is pretty old (to me) but if it is a real one cannot be said with certainty.

Anja, it seems your playing has evolved from your earlier, somewhat tentative efforts to a kind of fierce (canine influenced?) energy. I'm not sure that's the best approach for this tune. The Fiddlers Companion describes it as a "breakdown, song tune" but its a love song (or lament) - there's often a hint of leaving or parting - something unrequited.
I'm attaching a recording I made in 1978 of Doc Watson performing this song. Its not only a good version, but gives a little glimpse of what Doc was like as a person.
An even more personal and eerie version was played by Morgan Sexton: youtu.be/BPV96wLmiTw?feature=shared
Just my ideas.

PS - Here's another video of Doc with David Holt, where he describes how this was a "courting song" for him and Rosa Lee: youtu.be/-7MwW3JuEOY?feature=shared

Hey Doug,

Thanks for your insight! When I looked up the meaning of the word fierced in the Oxford Dictionnary ( ' having or displaying an intense or ferocious aggressiveness') I was laughing and thinking:  this is so me at the moment... It was not canine influenced though, more like neighbour inflicted, hence why I only respond now -  I was busy solving some serious problems here, but I am convinced it all will turn out just fine.

I love your recording of Doc Watson and especially this interaction with the little girl , the way he adresses her with 'honey' is charming and heartwarming the same time. I'm also totally in love with the Morgan Sexton version!! It has this dark and kind of lost feeling when he sings and plays the tune. Love it!!!
