The Violin Beautiful - Posted - 04/22/2025:  09:55:49

This violin is a wonderful example of the work of a very good Mirecourt maker. Mougenot learned under Emile Laurent, then with his cousin in Brussels, then worked for W.E. Hill & Sons, before returning to Mirecourt. His exposure to a range of styles and great instruments informed his making. He also trained many makers himself and established a workshop that produced many fine instruments. This violin was made only a few years before his death but shows his skill as well as any of his instruments throughout his career.
